C&S Peanut Suet Cakes (12 pack)
Our Review
Peanut suet cakes are rendered beef fat mixed with peanuts and peanut butter. They're a critical food source for woodpeckers, nuthatches, and other clinging birds, especially in winter when they need high-calorie fuel. We keep suet out year-round (switching to no-melt in summer).
Why We Love It
Our suet cage is one of the busiest spots at our feeding station. Downy woodpeckers, red-bellied woodpeckers, and white-breasted nuthatches visit multiple times a day. The peanut variety is their favorite by far.
Pros
- High-energy food for winter
- Attracts woodpeckers specifically
- Easy to use with suet cages
- Bulk pack great value
- Long shelf life
Cons
- Can melt in summer heat (use no-melt versions)
- Starlings and grackles also eat it
- Messy when warm
Birds This Attracts
Our Tip
In summer, switch to 'no-melt' suet cakes. Regular suet goes rancid above 70°F and can harm birds.
